Fascinating!

Fascinating view of the civil war through the eyes of a young soldier in the 7th Connecticut Infantry Regiment. I really enjoyed reading a book about the Civil War from the perspective of a young man on the front lines instead a historian’s view of events. I also was very interested to see the differences in expressions between then and now, such as referring to someone “going to their long home” when they died. The author adds a helpful touch with links to pertinent references and events throughout the book. The letters to Sara are raw and authentic with no editing to correct grammar and spelling. Keeping Ned’s errors make it a bit slower to read but retains the authentic feel of the letters.
